Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Wednesday said that there was no need for Telangana March as the Centre would make an announcement on Telangana State before September 29.
Talking to media persons at assembly premises, Dr Shankar Rao said that he has received hints from the New Delhi that the government would make an announcement on formation of Telangana state by September 29. With the Centre announcing a decision on the bifurcation, he felt that there was no need for organising the Telangana March on September 30.
Even if the Centre fails to make an announcement, he said that the JAC could go ahead with the March peacefully. He said that he would participate in the March if was conducted in a violent-free manner.
Slamming the police for its failure in providing security to women, he said that the National Crime Report pointed out that crimes against women have gone up in the State compared to other southern states. Stating that the State stood first in the crime rate, he asked the police department to act responsibly and take steps for protecting women.
