Naidu on "Save Congress mission", alleges YSRCP

Expressing dissatisfaction over the conduct of the five-day Assembly session, YSRCP Deputy floor leader Sobha Nagi Reddy has said that the Monsoon Session goes down in to the history as the most unproductive and lackluster one with the treasury and opposition benches scripting the proceedings in advance.

“We have given adjournment motion on all important issues from fees reimbursement to power shortage, hike in diesel prices besides pressing matters of public interest, but the Government has just put aside all our demands and waded through the five days without taking up a single discussion,” Sobha Nagi Reddy along with M Sucharita and D Krishna Das told reporters here on Saturday.

The seriousness or the lack of it, on part of the ruling and main opposition parties was proved during the BAC meeting, which was skipped by Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, she said. “Our Party President YS Vijaymma and some other Parties have told the BAC that the session should be held for at least 15 days but it was confined to only five days which passed off with only the homage to Konda Lakshman Bapuji being the singular participatory event,” she said adding that ever since the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy Assembly session has lost its relevance and people’s issues are never taken up for discussion.

She said that the real opportunity to raise the failures of the State Government in containing the prices was just wasted away as we wanted to use the floor of the House to discuss the serious power shortage and the lack of commitment and foresight on the State and why it is not giving subsidies to cushion the hike in diesel prices as some of the neighbouring States are doing. “We also wanted to question the State to pass on its additional income (VAT) on the hike in diesel running to Rs 900 crores to the consumers as YSR has done by mitigating the hike with subsidies. Adequate measures were not taken to help the farmers of the state that has received erratic rainfall affecting crops in one region and the other reeling under drought,” she said.

Leader of Opposition N Chanrababu Naidu had failed to play his designated role and is on a “Save Congress” mission, she alleged. During the dharna against diesel price hike at Delhi he shared the dais with Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav to protest against the UPA decision. However, the two leaders in unison were in favour of Congress with Mulayam continuing his support and Chandrababu Naidu being very vocal in saying that there is no threat of a mid-term poll, she said adding that the TDP President has secret meetings with the Prime Minister and Union Minister P Chidambaram in Delhi which confirms his “Save Congress” mission.

When asked about Telangana, she said: “we have made our stand very clear on umpteen occasions. It is for the Congress take initiative on the issue.”
