CM says no to Telangana resolution in assembly

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday said that the State Government would not move any resolution on the Telangana state formation in the ongoing Assembly session.

Talking to media persons at his chambers in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said that the government was not in a position to move the resolution as parties were divided on the issue. When the reporters said that all parties have expressed their opinions and waiting for the government to move a resolution in the House, he said that the government has no intentions to move the resolution as the issue was under the purview of the Centre.

The Chief Minister said that the Centre has all the details in connection with the Telangana demand and the consultation process with concerned stakeholders was on to resolve the matter.

Responding to the Telangana March called by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on September 30, he said that the government has asked the Telangana leaders to call off their march as Centre was dealing with the issue. He said that there was no norm for the State Government to observe Hyderabad Liberation Day in the state on the lines of Maharashtra and Karnataka officially.

Condemning Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram for his harsh comments against Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu that he would meet the same fate like his father Sripada Rao, who was killed by naxalites, the Chief minister said that the law would take its course of action and no one would be spared in this regard. On Babli issue, the Chief Minister said that he was contacting his Maharashtra counterpart to resolve the issue.

The Chief Minister also made it clear that the government would not be in a position to bear additional financial burden caused by hike in price of diesel and restricting subsidised LPG in a family to six cylinders per year. He called upon the opposition parties to come for a discussion on people’s issues instead of resorting to dharnas in the House.

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that a Cabinet Sub-committee has been appointed to look into reservation for BCs in the local body elections.
