Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday directed the officials of Energy Department to conduct review meetings once in every three days for the next two months to tackle energy crisis in the State in most efficient manner.
Reviewing the power situation with officials concerned at the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister asked the officials to take effective steps to meet the shortage of power and find ways and means to purchase power from power utilities. He also instructed the officials not to compromise on seven hour power supply to farmers any time. He also directed the officials to focus on non-conventional sources of energy such as bio-mass, wind and solar power to meet the situation.
The officials informed the Chief Minister about the steps taken by the officials in the drought-like situation prevailed in some parts of districts.
Kiran Kumar Reddy directed Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew to conduct tele-conference with the District Collectors and engineering officials over the power situation. As per the directive, the Chief Secretary would conduct Tele conference with the officials on September 3.
Meanwhile, the Transco officials said that they would conduct review meeting on day-to-day basis from 12 to 2 pm.
In the meeting, Energy Secretary M Sahu, Finance Secretary V Bhaskar, AP Transco Chairman and Managing Director Hiralal Samaria and AP Genco Managing Director Vijayanand and other officials were present.
