The Communist Party of India has accused the Members of Parliament from the Telangana region of being inefficient to pressurise the Centre on the statehood issue.
Talking to reporters during the Telangana Praja Poru Yatra at Suryapet on Monday, CPI Secretary K Narayana alleged that it was due to the inefficiency of MPs that the statehood for Telangana region was delayed. Criticising the Congress MPs for their silence, he said that although the Congress MPs make tall statements, they could not pressurise their party's High Command over the statehood issue. The Congress MPs did not even protest after being suspended from the Lok Sabha, he said.
Narayana appealed to the youth not to commit suicide demanding separate Telangana. "Instead of killing yourself, mount pressure on the elected representatives from the region to make them struggle for Telangana," he advised the youth.
On the third day, the CPI's Telangana Praja Poru Yatra, launched from Khammam, entered Nalgonda district on Monday. The yatra will conclude in Warangal on September 3.
