Former Minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Monday said that ongoing ruckus between Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy would damage both, the party and the government.
Talking to media persons at Assembly premises, Dr Shankar Rao appealed to the Congress High Command to intervene on the issue and resolve the matter immediately. He said ignoring the matter would lead to serious consequences for the party and the Congress government in the State. He alleged that some Congress leaders were trying to exploit the situation for their selfish gains after learning about the differences between Kiran Kumar and Jaipal Reddy.
Condemning the allegations of Government Whip T Jayaparkash Reddy against the Union Minister Jaipal Reddy, Dr Shankar Rao said that Jayaprakash Reddy was not authorised to speak about the performance or failure of a senior leader and union minister. He said Jaipal Reddy was a wise leader of the Congress party and he was also given the best Parliamentarian award by the State Government.
Dr Shankar Rao welcomed the demand to induct AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in the union cabinet and expressed confidence that the party would get strengthened further after Rahul's induction in Dr Manmohan Singh's cabinet.
