PCC chief apologises for power crisis

Attributing the ongoing power crisis in the State to lack of foresight in his own government, Pradesh Congress Committee President Botcha Satyanarayana on Monday apologised to the people of State for the present grim situation.

Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Satyanarayana said that the Congress government was striving hard to overcome the present crisis and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was in New Delhi to discuss the matter with the top leaders. He clarified that natural resources like gas was presently under the control of private companies rather than the government due to which the situation got worsened.

Stressing the need for urgent reforms in the present national policies towards allotment of gas in the country, the PCC Chief said that major quantum of the natural resources should be allowed for domestic purpose only. The State Government will have to bear a loss of 400 Mega Watt of power due to center's decision in allotting gas from the KG Basin to Ratnagiri power plant in Maharashtra. He also attributed the present crisis to deficient rainfall this year.

Satyanarayana said that the State Government would have to bear the additional expenses to purchase gas from other sources instead of K G Basin due to central government’s patronage towards Maharashtra. He also said that Government striving hard to overcome with the situation very soon.
