Leave the matter to me, says Sonia

New  Delhi,Oct  22: Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy,MP from Kadapa and the claimant for the Chief Minister's post in Andhra Pradesh met Congress party president  Sonia  Gandhi here on Thursday.The meeting was significant in view of the demand by a section of party leaders to make Jaganmohan Reddy chief minister.Speaking to  the  media after his meeting with Sonia Gandhi,Jagan said he discussed at length with Sonia about the political situation in  Andhra Pradesh.During the meeting,Jagan presented his case before Sonia Gandhi and also brought to her notice the support he enjoyed among party legislators in the state.Responding to  Jagan’s briefing about the political situation in the state Sonia said`Jagan I am here to  take care of everything leave the  matter to me.``I am confident that Sonia will take  the right decision and I will abide by whatever decision she takes.

In the  family of Congress, Sonia is  the eldest and her decision will be in the interest of the people and the party," he added.When media shot  back and questioned Jagan whether he expressed his desire to become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh he was evasive and said``I don’t wish  to be  drawn into those  speculations.’’During his  long discussions with Sonia Gandhi,Jagan was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao,while Congress general secretary in charge of party affairs in the state Veerappa Moily joined them during the  course of  meeting.As things stand,no concrete decision  has  come  out  from this meeting  but the Jagan camp in Hyderabad was upbeat after his meeting with Congress president.

Inner circles of the  party said Sonia Gandhi might accommodate  him as a state minister for shipping in the Union  ministry.Meanwhile  the  Congress spokesperson, Ms Jayanti Natarajan, refused to answer any  questions  pertaining to the conduct of Congress Legislature party meeting  in Hyderabad.  Being  curt in her reply  said `` this  is not the  forum to take  a  decision  when  and  where to hold  the CLP meet.’’
