Opposing the proposed Maha Deeskha of YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi for the cause of weavers on July 23 at Sircilla in Karimnagar district, Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Saturday demanded her to first make her party's stand clear on the Telangana statehood issue.
Talking to media persons, Kodandaram said that the Telangana people and leaders would not allow Vijayamma to observe Maha Deeksha in Sircilla until she makes her party's stand clear on the Telangana demand. He called upon the Telangana activists to obstruct the Deeksha. He also accused YSR Congress party of observing Deeksha to get political mileage on the weavers’ issue.
Kodandaram also asked YSR Congress party to make its party's stand clear on the construction of multi-purpose Polavaram irrigation Project, which would submerges thousands of acres in the Telangana region and displace tribals. He also slammed government for calling of tenders when the case was pending in the Supreme Court and High Court. “It is improper to call for Polavaram tenders when the case is pending in the Supreme Court and High Court,” he pointed out.
