Decision on RTE after CM's Delhi visit: Sailajanath

Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath on Thursday said that the State Government would take a decision on the implementation of Right to Education Act after Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s New Delhi visit.

Talking to media persons at the State Secretariat, Sailajanath said that the government needs to clarify certain issues in connection with the implementation of Right to Education Act with the Centre. Once the government gets clarity on those issues, he said that the government would implement the Act in letter and spirit. He opined that the government was planning to bring class 9 and 10th under Right to Education Act.

The minister suggested that the private and corporate schools in the State reserve 25 percent of seats for poor classes as a part of social responsibility. He said that the government would initiate severe action against those, who are responsible for insulting the caste in the educational curriculum.

Admitting the delay in supply of textbooks in schools, Sailajanath said that the government was making all arrangements in this regard. He also informed that the Chief Minister would launch Educational Fortnight from Chandragiri in Chittoor district on July 9.
