Bharatiya Janata Party national executive committee member Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday demanded that YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayamma make her stand clear on the Telangana statehood before campaigning for by-elections in the Parkal Assembly constituency.
Talking to media persons at district party office, Vidyasagar Rao said that the YSR Congress should clear its stand on the Telangana issue as former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has cheated the people of the region in 2009 elections by promising Telangana state.
He also alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was leveling baseless allegations against the BJP to get mileage in the ensuing by-elections in Parkal segment. He warned the TRS of serious consequences if it did not stop 'malicious campaign' against the BJP. He asked TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao to explain as to how he could achieve the Telangana State without the support of national party BJP.
Stating that the people of region were not in a position to believe TRS anymore, he expressed confidence that the BJP candidate would win from the Parkal constituency with a huge majority. He said that the Telangana agitation would reach a critical stage after the completion of by-elections and the BJP would play a crucial role in it.
