Ready to face CBI questioning, says Ponnala

Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Tuesday said that the he was ready to face the questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets case involving Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

Confirming that he was in receipt of summons to appear before the CBI on June 7, Ponnala said that he would cooperate with the CBI and provide the required information.

Sources says that the CBI is likely to question Ponnala over the GOs issued during 2004-09 when he was the Minister for Major Irrigation in the cabinet of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, on supply of water from river Krishna to some cement companies, which in turn allegedly made investments in businesses of the Kadapa MP. He is among the six ministers who were issued notices by the Supreme Court in March this year for issuing 26 controversial GOs that allegedly helped Jaganmohan accumulate illegal wealth.
