Botsa accuses some Cong MLAs of blackmail politics

Pradesh Congress Committee President Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday accused some Congress MLAs of resorting to blackmail tactics by giving resignations to join the YSR Congress party.

Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa said that resignation of some MLAs would not affect the Congress party and therefore, it was not afraid of their moves. For the Congress party, he said, serving the people was more important than staying in power. He said some leaders who were dreaming of become rich overnight like Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy were leaving the party.

Botsa also clarified that Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad never said that Jaganmohan Reddy would have become the Chief Minister if he would have stayed with the Congress party. Accusing a section of media of twisting his statement, he said Azad only stated that Jagan would have gained experience as a politician. He said YSR Congress party leaders were trying to take advantage of Azad's statement in their by-elections' campaign.

The PCC chief also condemned Pulivendula MLA Vijayamma's allegations that the Congress party was responsible for the death of her husband and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He asked Vijayamma to explain as to what led her to believe that Congress party has killed YSR. While withdrawing his allegation that family members themselves were responsible for YSR's death, he said that Vijayamma and Jaganmohan Reddy should explain to the people the motive for which Congress party would have killed YSR.

Botsa claimed that he wrote a letter demanding detailed enquiry into the death of YSR, whereas, Vijayamma and Jagan never demanded such an enquiry.
