Vijayamma seeks votes on YSR's pro-farmers schemes

YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma on Saturday said that the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project would have been materialized long ago if former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would have lived longer.

Participating in the by-election campaign at Polavaram Constituency in West Godavari district, Vijayamma said that both East and West Godavari districts would have benefitted a lot if the Polavaram project would have been completed. She said that she was proud of her husband YS Rajasekhara Reddy who helped farmers by introducing many schemes for their welfare. She accused the State government of diluting the welfare schemes launched by YSR citing financial implications.

Stating that the arrest of her son Jagan Mohan Reddy by the CBI was illegal, she expressed confidence that Jagan would come out clean from the 'baseless' allegations. She said that she was campaigning in the by-elections seeking justice in people’s court against Jagan’s arrest.

Expressing doubts over the death of YSR, she alleged that the CBI and other investigation agencies have completed the probe in a hasty manner without clearly establishing the reason for his death.

YSR’s daughter Sharmila appealed to the electorate to give mandate in favour of YSR Congress party to bring back the golden regime of 'Rajanna' (YSR). She asked the voters to teach a fitting lesson to the Congress party for disowning YSR and TDP chief N chandrababau Naidu for betraying his father-in-law and TDP founder N T Rama Rao.
