By-elections are prestigious for Congress: Vayalar Ravi

Union Overseas Affairs Minister and Congress emissary Vayalar Ravi on Friday called upon party rank and file to work sincerely for the victory of party candidates in the ensuing by-elections.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of meeting with coordinators and senior leaders at the Gandhi Bhavan, Vayalar Ravi said that the Congress party was taking the by-elections as a prestigious issue and a big challenge. Admitting that the Congress would take all steps to fill the vacuum created due to the death of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and boost the morale of party workers to face the elections confidently and boldly. He said that the party has decided to appoint two observers for each assembly constituency, which is going for by-elections in the State. The observers, he said, would monitor the election campaign and coordinate issues with senior and district leaders.

Ravi said that the election observers would stay in the assembly constituencies till the completion of elections and gear up the cadre and leaders for the campaign. Apart from observers, he said that booth level committees have been established to improve the party's prospects.

Stating that the by-elections were necessitated due to certain prevailing conditions in the State, he said that the party would recognize the services of ground level workers, who sincerely work for the party. Stating that national level leaders too would campaign in the by-elections, Vayalar Ravi said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and he himself would campaign in Macherla on Saturday.

Vayalara Ravi said that Chief Minister, PCC Chief and himself would also campaign in Parkal assembly constituency on May 20.
