Bharatiya Janata Party state president G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said that the party would contest the next by-election in 18 assembly constituencies on the issue of bifurcation of the State.
Talking to media persons at the State party office at Nampally, Kishan Reddy claimed that a majority of people in the Seemandhra region were also in favour of bifurcation. He said that the BJP wants to encash such sentiment and would go for the by-polls on the same agenda.
Kishan Reddy asked the people of the region to rebut the 'malicious' campaign of Telugu Desam Party and Congress that the Telangana agitation got diluted. He said that the students in the region were committing suicides following the Centre’s inordinate delay in announcing the decision on the Telangana statehood. He appealed to the students’ community not to lose their hopes and fight for the statehood until the formation of Telangana.
To prevent suicides among students, he said that the BJP was launching Telangana Bharosa yatra from April 16 from Mahbubnagar district under the Yuva Morcha.
If the Congress-led UPA Government fails to announce Telangana state by 2014, he said that the BJP would move a bill on Telangana in the Parliament if it comes to power in next elections.
