Telangana Rashtra Samithi Siricilla MLA T Harish Rao on Thursday stated that the TRS would not withdraw its agitation for separate Telangana State even if the leaders lure the Telangana leaders with President of India or Prime Minister's posts.
Participating as chief guest in the memorial meeting of S Rajamouli, who immolated himself for the cause of Telangana recently, at Kasibugga in the district, Harish Rao said that this time the TRS and JAC would intensify agitation in New Delhi until the Government announces its decision in favour of Telangana State. He said the Telangana leaders would not be lured with posts and the solution to the problem would be fulfilling the aspirations of people by announcing separate State.
Harish Rao asked as to why Union Home Minister P Chidambaram did not ask the ruling Congress and Opposition Telugu Desam to make their stand clear on the statehood issue. “If Chidabaram sets a deadline to all stakeholders, they will come out with a clear decision facilitating the Centre to take an immediate decision on the issue,” he said.
The TRS leader alleged that the controversial statements issued by leaders from Congress and TDP were responsible for students ending their lives in the region. He demanded that the police register cases against the leaders who were provoking students to end their lives.
TRS floor leader Etala Rajender and Congress MP S Rajaiah were also present in the programme.
