Boycott by-polls to prove 'T' commitment, TDP to TRS

Telangana Forum Convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Tuesday asked the Telangana Rashtra Samithi to boycott the by-elections for six constituencies in the Telangana if it was really committed for the statehood demand. Talking to media persons at Assembly media point, Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that the Centre could be pressurised if the TRS boycotts the by-elections. He asked the TRS to keep aside MLA posts and sincerely work towards achieving the Telangana state if it was really committed.

Alleging that TRS and Congress party cheated the people of the region on Telangana, he said that the Forum would extend its full support if the TRS boycotts elections and make full-fledged efforts for separate statehood. Responding to resignation of former TDP leaders –Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Gampa Goverdhan and Jogi Ramanna for the cause of Telangana, he said that the leaders resigned from their posts only to get mileage on the statehood issue and to join the TRS.  If the leaders who resigned were really committed for the Telangana state, he asked them to contest the by-elections independently and win them to prove their strength.

Errabelli also demanded that the State Government immediately withdraw police cases filed against students and activists, who participated in the statehood agitation. TDP leader Motkupalli Narsimhulu said that the Forum leaders have sought time during the Business Advisory Committee to discuss the issue of police cases on students and other problems of Telangana region. However, he said that Speaker Nadendla Manohar and State Government were not responding positively to discuss on these issues.

TDP deputy floor leader Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu said that the opposition was ready to cooperate with government in passing Thanks Giving Motion on Governor’s address if it makes its stand clear on the ACB report on liquor syndicate. Stating that the State has facing many problems, he accused the Speaker of cooperating with government in adjourning the House frequently without allowing any discussion on those problems. “If the Speaker adjourns the House on flimsy grounds, then how the people’s problems will be addressed,” he asked. Naidu asked the Speaker and Government to take steps for running the House smoothly and focus its attention on addressing people’s woes.
