The left parties have accused the State Government of burdening the common man with heavy taxes.
Reacting to Governor ESL Narasimhan's address to the joint session of legislative assembly and council here on Monday, CPI floor leader J Ranga Reddy and CPM floor leader Gunda Mallesh said that the government has been extorting money from traders and other sections by imposing heavy taxes. He said by increasing revenues using coercive methods, the government was trying to project that the State was on the growth path and businessmen were making profits.
However, the left parties' leaders said that due to the wrong policies of the government the poor has remained poor and now the middle-class too was joining the poor category.
In protest against the Governor's address, the left parties' MLAs addressed the media while sitting on the floor and adoring a flower on their ears.
