Assembly Deputy Speaker Batti Vikramarka on Thursday stated that the Constitution has not fixed any time frame for taking action against 16 MLAs under the Anti Defection Act, who defied the party whip and voted against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government during the No Confidence Motion introduced by the Telugu Desam Party.
Talking to media persons after inaugurating the South zone national ranking Table Tennis championship at Cherkuri Subba Rao Gannemma Gardens in Rajahmundry, Vikramarka said that Speaker Nadendla Manohar would take a final decision on the disqualification of rebel MLAs petition after seeking explanation from them.
However, he said that the Constitution has not fixed any time frame for initiating disciplinary action against the rebel MLAs. The Speaker can disqualify them under the relevant Act, after seeking explanation.
