The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday denied reports that the Congress High Command contacted its president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Talking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan, TRS MLA T Harish Rao said that the Congress High Command did not contact KCR and the reports that appeared in the media were mere rumours and speculation.
Further, Harish Rao said that the party would not agree for a Telangana package or other sops for the region. He said, "We will not approve anything less than a Telangana state with Hyderabad as its capital." He also accused the Telugu Desam Party leaders from the region of targeting the TRS to divert public attention from their own commitment towards the Telangana cause.
The TRS MLA also complained that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has recently sent a proposal to the Centre for expansion of national highways of about 2,000 kilometres. However, he said that the Telangana region has been ignored in the proposal and of 2,000 km, only 380 km of highway passes through the region. He demanded that the Chief Minister send a revised proposal by doing justice to the Telangana region.
