Legislature-bureaucracy nexus turning soar

The legislature-bureaucracy nexus is turning soar by every passing day after the Bellary mining scam has come into the open.

Even during the discussion on no confidence motion, an enraged TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu pointed out, “ why should Y Sri Lakshmi go to jail and Sabita be in the open?”

The point Naidu wanted to make is if bureaucrats can be made accountable, why not the politicians. The point will be well taken if it applies for both the parties. Y Sri Lakshmi, it is believed, was the blue-eyed bureaucrat of Naidu.

Sabita defended herself saying that there is no truth in what Naidu was telling and he should come with solid evidence before hurling any allegations.

Earlier, the buck kept on passing with Sri Lakshmi saying that she signed on the instructions of the minister, who in turn said, the bureaucrat should be in the know of things and ministers only tell the policy decisions.

Fine, all this has again been doled up again with a fresh legal approach naming a slew of ministers and babulog.

The case apart, the easy way of escape is always there by passing the buck. Responsibility and accountability is lacking and scam after scam has erased the sanctity and stature of people holding high offices to a great extent.

There could be sincere officers and politicians but the blot is spreading and greed is said to be the main cause of all shady deals. Economy has opened up, employment opportunities have increased so did the divide between rich and poor.

Welfare schemes are aplenty but while implementing them the actual beneficiary is not getting the intended amount. There are lot of middlemen, political or otherwise, and much of red tape in between.

Reforms are good and they sound good, good governance is a commitment with legislature and executive joining hands and stand for public scrutiny.
