Jupally resigns afresh as MLA

Accusing the State and Central Government of intentionally delaying the decision on separate Telangana, former Endowment Minister Jupally Krishnarao on Friday submitted his resignation from his Kollapur Assembly seat.

Talking to media persons at Assembly premises after submitting his resignation letter to Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram, Jupally appealed to Speaker Nadendla Manohar to accept his resignation from MLA's seat as early as possible. He said that he had submitted his resignation in protest against the delay in the formation of Telangana state.

Jupally said that he was ready to submit his resignation to Congress party primary membership if the High Command fails to take a decision in favour of Telangana. He demanded the resignation of all Telangana leaders from the elected posts to achieve statehood for the region. He said that the Centre would bow down to Telangana if the Ministers and MPs from the region resign from their elected posts. He said that people were suspecting that the Congress do respect the sentiments and aspirations of the region.

The former minister asked as to why the Congress leaders were hesitating to submit resignation afresh. Accusing such leaders of adopting a double-standard, he said there was no difference between them and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.

Earlier, Jupally tried to conduct a press briefing at Congress Legislature Party Office. However, the officials in CLP locked the doors and did not allow him to conduct media conference.

It may be mentioned that Governor E S L Narasimhan has accepted Jupally's resignation from the cabinet the first week of June following the recommendation of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. Jupally resigned as a minister after having a confrontation with Information and Public relations Minister D K Aruna over pada yatra on Telangana statehood in Mahbubnagar district, the home constituency of Aruna.

Jupallu Krishna Rao got elected from Kollapur in 1999, 2004 and 2009 Assembly elections. He served as Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs in Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s cabinet and continued with the same portfolio in the team of K Rosaiah. He was appointed as Minister for Endowments in Kiran Kumar Reddy’s cabinet.
