Seemandhra students resolve for united AP

Seemandhra Students Joint Action Committee on Thursday convened an emergency meeting at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur and passed seven resolutions demanding that the Centre announce its decision opposing bifurcation of state.

Talking to media persons after meeting, Seemandhra Students JAC convenors N Samuel and Adari Kishore Kumar asked the Centre to announce that it opposes Telangana by November 1 failing which Seemandhra students would stage hunger fast in front of Assembly.

They said that the meeting has decided to organize dharnas from October 18 to 22 stressing the importance of integrated state for the overall development. They threatened to picket the houses of elected representative if they support the statehood demand due to the pressure of Congress High Command.

The student leaders also demanded that the state government immediately start counseling process for ICET, Pharmacy, Edcet, Eamcet, nursing  and other courses as thousands of students were losing valuable academic year due to agitations in the State capital.

They warned the Bharatiya Janata party of serious consequences if it did not change its stand on Telangana statehood demand. They said that Seemandhra students would not allow BJP leader L K Advani’s Rath Yatra in the region if the party continues to support Telangana statehood demand.

As the general strike of employees in the Telangana causing lot of inconvenience to general public, they appealed to the State Government to sack the employees who are participating in the general strike and appoint obedient Telangana staff in their place.  The student leaders also resolved to ban those media channels which are promoting separatism through discussions and programmes.

The meeting was attended by student leaders from 14 universities in the region and supported the resolutions in favour of integrated state.
