All India Congress Committee secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar on Saturday demanded that the state government immediately release salaries for all employees, who participated in the general strike of employees supporting the Telangana statehood agitation.
Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party office, Ponguleti said that the government employees have been participating in the statehood agitation due to certain conditions prevailing in the region. He appealed to government to release salaries for employees considering their pathetic condition and festival season.
The AICC secretary also appealed to the employees to withdraw their agitation in view of the Deepawali festival as it may cause lot of inconvenience to the general public. He urged government to lift all the police cases foisted against the employees, who participated in the statehood agitation.
Ponguleti said that the Centre was making all efforts towards resolving the Telangana issue. He appealed to all parties to announce their clear stand before the Centre over the Telangana issue. He also appealed to all parties to observe restraint and avoid giving provocative statements until the Centre announces a decision on creation of Telangana state.
