Provide relief materials to flood victims soon

Hyderabad, Oct 5 :

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, K Rosaiah, on Monday conducted maiden teleconference with District Collectors of Krishna and Guntur over the flood situation from ‘C’ block in the State Secretariat.

He directed them to intensify rescue and relief operations in flood hit areas and provide all necessary facilities and food packets for victims in rehabilitation centres without any delay. He asked the district collectors to be vigilant and evacuate people from low-lying areas as floods pose grave threat to their lives.

He told officials not to show any negligence in providing relief materials to the flood victims. Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Danam Nagender said that the government will conduct special health camps in the flood affected districts.

Talking to media persons on Monday, he said that the camps would be conducted in Kurnool and Mahabubnagar districts. He said that the government would send special medical teams to flood ravaged districts to contain water-borne and contagious diseases.

The Medical and Health Department officials have donated medicines worth Rs 20 lakh to flood victims, he said. The government has stepped up relief operations in flood water receding areas on war footing, he explained.
