Pro-Jagan 25 MLAs meet Governor

Pressing for acceptance of their resignations, as many as 25 Congress MLAs, who switched loyalties to YSR Congress party, on Tuesday met Governor ESL Rajanarasimhan at Raj Bhavan.

Addressing media after submitting a memorandum to the Governor, former minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose said that the MLAs have appealed to the Governor to use his offices to prevail upon Speaker Nadendla Manohar to accept their resignations. He also complained that the state government was misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation against Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy by conducting raids on his businesses and residence.

Bose alleged that the government was resorting to political vendetta by harassing the pro-Jagan MLAs. He said that the people would teach a fitting lesson if the Congress government did not change its attitude. He also blamed the state government for inclusion of former chief minister YSR’s name in the CBI’s FIR in Jagan’s disproportionate assets case. The government has insulted the former chief minister by allowing inclusion of his name in FIR, he said.

Despite High Court directing two times to file counter petition in connection with the removal of former chief minister’s name from the FIR, he said that the state government failed to heed court’s advice and did not file any petition so far. He said the delegation urged the Governor to intervene and prevent misuse of CBI against Jagan.

The delegation also took serious note on CBI changing Jagan’s name from 52 to A-1 position in the FIR. He said that a national level debate should be conducted on misusing of CBI against opposition party leaders.

Responding to allegation that MLAs submitted resignation in support of a corrupt person, MLA Srikanth Reddy challenged them for a debate on how people have set up industries on benami names using political power.

The meeting with governor lasted for about half-an-hour and only 25, out of 29 MLAs met the Governor.
