Rosaiah says goodbye to CLP, Gandhi Bhavan

Saying goodbye to his long career in active politics, K Rosaiah visited the party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan and the Congress Legislature Party, probably for the last time, as a politician.

The 78-year-old Rosaiah has been appointed as the Governor of Tamil Nadu and would be assuming charge next week. Since as a Governor he won't be able to visit either Gandhi Bhavan or the CLP office, Rosaiah came to these places where he has spent almost his entire life. It was in 1968 that he was elected as the Member of the Legislative Council for the first time. Since then, Rosaiah has been visiting the state legislative assembly premises. As a distinct politician, Rosaiah was a member of the cabinet of five chief ministers - M Chenna Reddy, T Anjaiah, K Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy and YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

The corridors of the legislative assembly must have reminded Rosaiah of the time that he has spent as the best Finance Minister the state has ever had. He has introduced the state budget 16 times, including seven in a row, a record in the country. Rosaiah said he could not forget a single moment that he has spent in the CLP and Gandhi Bhavan.

Rosaiah was welcomed by former minister JC Diwakar Reddy, MLA Mastan Vali among others at the CLP office. Later, Rosaiah also visited the Gandhi Bhavan.

According to sources, Rosaiah is likely to assume charge as Tamil Nadu Governor on Sept 2 at 8 pm. He would attend the death anniversary function of YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the day and then proceed to Chennai to take up the new assignment.
