Demanding the Telugu Desam Party to make its stand clear on Telangana state issue, Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar stated that it was the responsibility of Congress to carve out a separate state from the United Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to media persons on Friday Ponnam Prabhakar said that the TDP has to first reach out `unanimity’ on Telangana by holding discussions with its Seemandhra TDP leaders before asking the Congress to make its stand clear.
Stating that the Telangana Congress leaders are making all out efforts for formation of Telangana state, he said “The TDP has to first make its stand clear on the issue before questioning the Congress.”
He demanded Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Forum members to respond on the remarks of party politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu that the Pranab Mukherjee committee appointed by the centre as well as the letter given by the party to committee were outdated.
He called upon all joint action committees in Telangana to mount pressure on the TDP to make its stand clear on T issue besides issuing a fresh letter from Naidu stating no objection for formation of separate Telangana state.
He said the high command is not mounting pressure on elected members to withdraw their resignations.
He said the steering committee of Telangana Congress leaders would chalk out future plan on the Telangana issue at its meeting to be held on Friday evening at Jana Reddy residence.
