Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Tuesday sought the support of the Telugu Desam Party in his fight against corruption and to bring back black money stashed abroad, during his meeting with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
After meeting Mr Naidu at his residence, Baba Ramdev told media persons that he had met the former chief minister as part of efforts to garner support for his agitation against corruption. The Yoga guru said that he would be launching the second phase of this agitation in August. “By preventing corruption and bringing back black money, the government can implement many development programmes for the benefit of people,” Baba Ramdev said. “My aim is not political power. I want political purity. As a responsible citizen I am continuing my fight against rampant corruption and black money. I am a sadhu but I am a patriot and will work for the development of the country till my last breath” he said. “My aim is to eradicate corruption. This is possible with support of political parties only. We elected political leaders ourselves,” he said. “I have seen purity in Mr Chandrababu Naidu. That is why I have sought the support of Mr Naidu in my fight against corruption,” he said. Hailing Baba Ramdev’s fight against corruption, Mr Naidu on his part said that he would extend total support to the yoga guru’s agitation. He asked why Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not responding on former telecom minister A Raja’s allegation of his involvement in 2G Spectrum scam. When asked why the TDP targeting was YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Mr Naidu said that, “we are raising the issue since corruption took place since former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy rule and were not specifically targeting Mr Jaganmohan Reddy.”
