Senior Telugu Desam Party leader from Seemandhra regions Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Thursday opined that desperation about the fact that the separate Telangana state is a mirage is the reason behind students taking the extreme step.
Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Mr Chandramohan Reddy attributed the suicide of Yadireddy from Rangareddy district in New Delhi on Wednesday to the provocative statements of some vested elements. Advising the politicians to avoid making provocative statements, the senior TDP leader expressed his sympathies to Yadireddy’s family. Stating that the division of state will not benefit anybody and create other problems, the TDP leader demanded that the Centre announce a clear decision on controversial separate state demand. He also appealed to the Centre to take a judicious decision on the separate statehood demand. “It is the responsibility of Centre to take final decision on Telangana and put an end to crisis,” Mr Chandramohan Reddy said. He appealed to people not to believe rumours that the division of state would get them so many benefits as promised by politicians. Stating the Centre has to adopt certain `scientific parameters’ for the division of state, the TDP leader stressed on the need for establishment of the Second States Reorganisation Commission. “If the volatile situation continues like this, the state would lag behind in all sectors and investors would be forced to look for other green pastures,” Mr Chandramohan Reddy opined.
