A Telangana Minister here on Monday came to the rescue of the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy over the issue of Cabinet meeting.
The fact that 12 Ministers from the Telangana region abstained from their duties after putting in their papers as legislators to express their protest over ‘Telangana’.
Therefore, the Cabinet meeting was not convened though an ‘agenda’ was readied, was judiciously covered up by another senior minister from Telangana.
Not only Telangana Ministers but their counterparts from Andhra and Rayalaseema, with the exception of a couple of seniors like Dr D L Ravindra Reddy, Health Minister and S Shailajanath, Minister for School Education, also deserted the Secretariat as seen in the recent past.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is said to be busy touring the districts and conducting revenue meetings regularly and so was preoccupied for not calling a Cabinet meeting.
The Labour and Employment Minister Danam Nagender specifically clarified here on Monday that the Chief Minister had no ‘time’ to convene the said meeting.
Danam was of the opinion that there was no other specific reason to ignore the Cabinet meeting.
Further it was clarified that the administration was going on as scheduled. Fielding a question the minister also sought to clarify that the scheduled District Collectors’ conference was also not held as stipulated for some reasons.
The Collectors’ meet would be held every three months, if not that every six months, he said. “The Collectors’ meeting will be held,” he said.
By and large the official machinery was intact in the state. He was expressed his opinion that there was no need to misconstrue that there was any setback to the NKR rule.
