Describing the High Court’s ruling that investigations into the Emaar land allotment scam should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigations as the victory of the people and the Telugu Desam Party, the party’s general secretary Varla Ramaiah on Monday said that its stand has been vindicated.
Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Mr Ramaiah reminded that right from the time the scam came to light, the TDP had been demanding the state government order CBI probe into issue as large number of irregularities took place in the allotment of lands. “However, the state government ignored our request and adopted a lenient attitude over the issue. Now the High Court’s directive has vindicated our stand,” Mr Ramaiah said. Stating that the verdict would open an eye of state government, he described the High Court’s directive as a major blow to the government. The TDP leader alleged that the corruption was rampant in the state right from the time when former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy took charge and is continuing in the present Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s tenure. Mr Ramaiah also appealed to High Court to take suo moto notice and order CBI probe into the illegal properties of YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
