Demanding that the Centre convene the all-party meeting to discuss the separate statehood demand, Bharatiya Janata Party state unit president G Kishen Reddy on Tuesday said that the meeting should not take the Justice Srikrishna Committee Report into consideration at the conclave.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point after submitting his resignation to Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram, Mr Kishen Reddy demanded that Union Home Minister P Chidambaram convene an all-party meeting soon to discuss the separate Telangana statehood demand. He said that only the logistics of dividing Andhra Pradesh should be discussed at the all party meeting and added that only heads of the respective political parties should be invited or otherwise the BJP would not attend. The BJP leader also stated the division of state would lead to progress in both regions of the state. “The bifurcation of the state would be helpful in building infrastructure in all the three regions. Bifurcation would be helpful for development on all fronts,” he said. Reiterating that his party was committed to the formation of smaller states, Mr Kishen Reddy criticized the Congress for failing to address the long-pending problem since the past many years. BJP MLA Lakshminarayana also submitted his resignation.
