Resignations a historic step, write T letter: Nagam to Babu

Thanking all leaders who extended their solidarity with his two-day ‘Ekta Deeksha’ at Indira Park, suspended Telugu Desam Party leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday described the resignation of Telangana leaders for statehood as `historic’.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Janardhan Reddy advised TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to ‘at least now’ change his stand and write a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, stating that he has no objections in the carving out of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.

The suspended leader pointed out that such a letter from Mr Naidu would prove that the TDP is committed to Telangana statehood.

Mr Janardhan Reddy also advised Telangana leaders to wriggle out from the ‘clutches’ of Mr Naidu unless he writes the cited letter to the Prime Minister and Mr Chidambaram.

He also opined that there was no need for Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy to go to New Delhi to discuss on the issue with the Congress leadership.
“The High Command will come down to Hyderabad if we stand firmly and put our foot down,” Mr Janardhan Reddy said.

Alleging that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was planning to water down the separate statehood agitation, the suspended TDP leader said that, “No one can stop this agitation. It will reach its logical conclusion, that is the formation of Telangana.”
