No link between Telangana, second SRC: DS

Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Wednesday categorically denied that there was any truth to rumours that the Centre was linking the Telangana issue with second States Reorganisation Commission.

Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, the PCC chief stated that the government has proposed to establish the second States Reorganisation Commission following a request made by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati in connection with demands of splitting that state.

Condemning the rumours linking Telangana with the second SRC, Mr Srinivas stated that there is no truth in the media reports and said they were baseless.

“Please do not link the Telangana issue with second SRC,” the PCC chief stated.

Responding to Nizamabad Zilla Parishad chairman K Venkata Ramana Reddy parting ways with the Congress and joining the YSR Congress Party, Mr Srinivas stated that the migration of workers would not affect the Congress party. “There is no loss for the Congress despite a few party workers quitting it and joining other parties,” he stated.

Mr Srinivas added that the District Congress Committee leaders have been directed to watch the movement of the party functionaries and send reports to the PCC.

Based on the DCCs’ reports, the High Command will initiate action against those who are working against the party, he stated.

Welcoming the meeting of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu with Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar over the fixing of Minimum Support Price for paddy and raising other farmers’ issues, Mr Srinivas said that the former chief minister has taken the correct step of helping the farmers.

However, he condemned Mr Naidu for targeting Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on personal grounds.
