Partymen continue to resist DS

Kakinada, Sept 25 :

Taking a cue from their counterparts in Karimnagar on Thursday, the Congressmen of East Godavari district on Friday locked-up the party office as Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief D Srinivas addressed the teleconference for membership drive. The District Congress Committee members in Kakinada have abstained from the teleconference conducted by the PCC chief and threatened him that they would resign to their posts en mass if the high command delays the successor issue further.

The local party cadres are not in a position to move in villages for members enrolment if Jaganmohan Reddy, the late chief minister’s son, is not made the Chief Minister. However, the PCC, chief when contacted by TNN claimed that the response from party cadre was quite encouraging.

He advised the participants to concentrate on membership drive (scheduled to take place between October 2 and 15) and to ensure that at least 20,000 members are enrolled in each Assembly segment and 100 members each at the booth level. He wanted them to ensure that there are at least 25 percent women members present in the list. He also wanted them to complete the drive well in advance in order to facilitate the PCC to send the list to the All-India Congress committee by end of October.
