YSR Congress Party leader Gone Prakash Rao on Thursday said that the only party to be blamed for the delay in formation of a separate Telangana state is the Congress party, which is the ruling party in both the state and the Centre.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Prakash Rao said that neither YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy nor Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu could be targeted for the delay in the formation of Telangana, “since they are obstructing it.”
The senior leader stated that both Mr Naidu and Mr Jaganmohan Reddy have already made their stand clear on Telangana and never objected to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr Prakash Rao held the Centre responsible for the escalation of problems in Telangana, “especially since as it had cheated people of the region by making a misleading statement on December 9, 2009.”
“Within 15 days of the statement on Telangana being issued by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, the Centre revoked its decision and appointed the Justice Srikrishna Committee, to find ways to delay the any decision or solution on the issue,” the senior leader stated.
“If the Centre fails introduce Telangana Bill in Parliament under Article 3, the State Assembly can pass a unanimous resolution on Telangana state,” Mr Prakash Rao pointed out.
