In the backdrop of the separate statehood agitation gathering steam in the region, Telugu Desam Party leaders from Telangana would meet on Friday to chalk out a course of action to be adopted.
Telangana Forum convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Thursday told media persons at the Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office that Friday’s meeting, to be held at the NTR Trust Bhavan, will elicit opinion from party MPs, MLAs, former MLAs and district in-charges on the strategy to be adopted on the separate Telangana statehood issue.
Mr Dayakar Rao stated that the meeting will also discuss the Padayatra to be taken up from Gun Park to Yadagirigutta from May 23 to May 26.
“Despite warnings issued by a section of pro-Telangana activists that the padayatra must not be conducted under the TDP flag, we will go ahead,” Mr Dayakar Rao said.
He alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi has violated the resolution passed by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee which was passed in its first meeting and was only targeting the TDP.
Mr Dayakar Rao reminded that the resolution had clearly stated that all parties should keep aside their party flags for the cause of Telangana agitation and make united efforts for attaining a separate state.
“It is the TRS which had first violated the spirit of the resolution and was now targeting the TDP, he pointed out.
“We will stand by the promise of keeping our party flag aside if Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor Kodandaram ensures that leaders of other parties also keep aside their party flags and unite on one platform to fight for Telangana,” Mr Dayakar Rao stated.
“Prof Kodandaram must promise to unite all disparate Telangana protagonists first, according to the first resolution adopted by the TPJAC,” the TDP leader stated.
Warning TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao not to target TDP members from Telangana region, Mr Dayakar Rao said, “if I disclose KCR’s misdeeds and how he cheated the people of the region by misusing the separate statehood agitation, the people of the region would hang their heads in shame.”
The TDP leader added that there was no need to introduce a new resolution on Telangana in the party’s annual conclave, ‘Mahanadu’ scheduled to be held from May 27 at Gandipet.
He also condemned the pro-Telangana activists for obstructing his party president N Chandrababu Naidu in Mahabubnagar during a rally for the cause of farmers.
