No Trust only after clarity on Congress' strength: Babu

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday stated that his party cannot introduce a No Confidence Motion against the N Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the Assembly since it is unsure about the actual number of MLAs in the Congress party.

Talking to media persons after holding discussions with farmers of Krishna and Guntur districts over the fixing of Minimum Support Price for paddy, the TDP chief stated that the TDP can consider introducing any No Trust Motion against the government only after the Congress party formally splits in the state. Referring to the reports of some MLAs supporting YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy while still remaining in the Congress, Mr Naidu said that his party can make any moves only after knowing the exact strength of the ruling party in the Assembly.

“The TDP can consider introducing the No Confidence Motion against the government in the event of political crisis being raised after a formal split in the Congress party,” Mr Chandrababu Naidu asserted.

The former chief minister stated that the party would intensify its agitation against the state government highlighting the farmers’ problems from May 19. The TDP would seek to pin the government into fixing the Minimum Support Price for paddy.

Alleging that the government was neglecting the farmers in the state, Mr Naidu said the it has totally failed in redressing the farmers’ problems and the Chief Minister was making efforts to protect his seat following the drubbing of his party candidates in the Kadapa and Pulivendula by-elections.

The TDP chief repeated his Friday’s charge that YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy won the by-elections by distributing money and ‘rowdyism’, besides taking advantage of the sympathy wave induced by the death of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
