Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Tuesday visited the Care Hospital, where Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi is undergoing treatment, and inquired about his health.
Talking to media persons after wishing the Legislator speedy recovery, the TDP chief said that the doctors told him they had removed the ventilator from Mr Owaisi and he was now breathing naturally. “The doctors told me that Mr Owaisi is showing significant improvement,” Mr Naidu said.
Wishing the MLA speedy recovery, Mr Naidu appealed to the state government to bring his attackers to book. He also demanded that severe punishment be meted out to the attackers.
Meanwhile, Mr Chiranjeevi too expressed his concern about the brazen attack after inquiring into Mr Owaisi’s health. The PRP chief demanded that the state government initiate severe action against the culprits, who are responsible for attack on Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi.
Mr Chiranjeevi said the attack proves that the police had totally failed in providing security to the elected representatives.
“If the MLA can be attacked in his own constituency, I wonder how secure can the common man feel,” Mr Chiranjeevi said.
The MIM Legislator was attacked by a group of men, the associates of an alleged land shark after a padayatra at Chandrayngutta, his constituency.
The MIM Legislators have traditionally refused security for themselves and move about in the city freely.
MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi refused the security offer which was extended to him by the city police even after the attack on his younger brother and MLA took place.
The party headquarters, Darussalam at Nampally is also unguarded and even lacks a metal detector. The MIM believes in seeking protection from the Almighty and relies on public love and support for its security.
