City Police Commissioner AK Khan on Monday said that preliminary investigations reveal that the attack on Majli-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Floor Leader in the state Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi’s life was pre-planned. Stating that the reason behind the attack was a land dispute, Mr Khan said that the said that the attack was indeed pre-planned and the conspirators would be unearthed, hopefully within the next 48-hours.
The city police chief told media persons here, that around ten or eleven persons actively took part in the attack. Mr Khan also revealed that six of the attackers are already under police custody and the rest would be arrested soon. One of the attackers died while undergoing treatment at the Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet.
“The police has also identified the weapons used in the attack. Five rounds were fired at the MIM Legislator while four found their mark,” Mr Khan said. He added that the attack was due to land disputes between Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi and Mohammed bin Omar al Yafai, better known as Mohammed Pahelwan. “Special attention will be focused on the land mafia,” the police chief said.
