Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao on Saturday said that law and order situation in the Old City is under control.
Talking to media persons in the premises of the Owaisi Hospital, the DGP said that situation in the Old City is tense but under control, following the attack on Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslim MLAs Akbaruddin Owaisi and Ahmed Balala, and party Barkas Corporator Mansoor bin Mohammed Awaqui. Two more MIM activists Mohsin al Kaseri and Mahmood bin Mohammed Awaqui were also injured in the attack.
The doctors have declared that the injured are now out of danger.
Mr Aravinda Rao said that the police have been put on alert but there is no need to depute 20,000 personnel in the old city, considering that the situation is under control.
He added that all necessary measures will be taken to maintain law and order in the Old City.
The DGP also said that the MIM Floor Leader was not accompanied by any security personnel at the time of the attack. He also said that the attack was repelled by the gunman of Malakpet MLA Ahmed Balala.
The retaliatory fire led to the death of one of the attackers, while two more are said to be undergoing treatment. One of these two is said to be in a critical condition.
