DL concealed property, disqualify him

The YSR Congress leaders demanded that the Congress candidate for Kadapa Lok Sabha Seat DL Ravindra Reddy be disqualified from contesting the by-elections on the grounds that he had not shown his correct assets in the affidavit filed before the Election Commission.

As per the People’s Representation Act Dr Ravindra Reddy was expected to show his assets in the affidavit but he had suppressed the information on his building worth an estimated Rs 8 crore which is located in Gachchibowli in Ranga Reddy district, the YSR Congress Party leaders told media persons at the state Secretariat on Friday.

“Apart from this building, Dr Ravindra Reddy even claimed Rs 30,000 rent from the government for his accommodation,” said YSR Congress leader CC Reddy.

Mr CC Reddy was earlier an advisor to former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy on NRI affairs and foreign investments.

He alleged that Dr Ravindra Reddy lacked morals and stooped down to such a level as to suppress the information on his assets.

Mr CC Reddy claimed that Dr Ravindra Reddy’s suppression of facts violated the Election Code and he was liable for disqualification from the election race.

The YSR Congress party leaders earlier submitted a memorandum complaining to Chief Election Officer Bhanwar Lal about Dr Ravindra Reddy’s lapse and asked the CEO to disqualify his candidature.

“Dr Ravindra Reddy spoke much on corruption but lacked morals and he had no right to comment on YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who had paid the taxes to the Income Tax Department in advance, Mr CC Reddy said.

He also blamed Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for lacking morals and alleged that he had amassed wealth after coming to power.
