Hyderabad, Sept 23:
The Chief Minister, K Rosaiah on Wednesday directed the officials to take all steps for implementing the pet project of late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy ‘Abhayahastam’ at any cost from November 1.
At a review meeting convened with the Minister for Rural Development Vatti Vsantha Kumar and top brass at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister also wanted to change the name of scheme after ‘YSR Abhayahastam.’
Minister for Rural Development Vatti Vsantha Kumar said the government has identified four lakh beneficiaries to implement the scheme in the first phase. The beneficiaries (old age people) would get Rs 500 pension under the Abhyahastam. He said that the administration has been making efforts to launch the ‘Abhayahastam’ scheme as per schedule on November 1.
“All the field level officials have been directed to inform the same to the public. The administration is of the opinion that this will give a psychological relief to many who were benefiting from various government schemes,” he said.
Those who want insurance coverage should pay Rs.400 as premium per year. After the members get insurance cover under group insurance scheme, they would be offered Rs. 30,000 for natural death, Rs. 75,000 for accidental death, Rs. 75,000 for permanent disability and Rs. 37,500 for partial disability, he said. Under the Abhayahastam scheme, the government will also give scholarships for girl children studying from 9th to intermediate.
