Union Minister of State for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi on Sunday stated that the Centre was making complete efforts towards development of textile industry across the country.
Talking to media persons after participating in a programme here, the MoS for Textiles stated that the Ministry intends to set up another 20 Textile Parks across the country, in order to provide a definitive push to the textile sector, to increase exports and generate more job opportunities.
Ms Lakshmi pointed out that the Central government has recently launched the "Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP)" by merging the existing two schemes namely, the Scheme for Apparel Parks for Exports (APE) and the Textile Centre Infrastructure Development Scheme (TCIDS).
“One of the main purposes of introducing SITP is to provide the industry with world class infrastructure facilities for setting up their textiles units,” she stated.
The MoS added that the new Textile Parks will be of international standards and potential growth centres under public-private partnership.
Ms Lakshmi further expressed regrets over poor response from the state government and from district Industries centres for the Scheme for Integrated Textile parks and added that the Centre has focused its attention on the welfare of spinning mill employees and take all measures for their upliftment.
