Would not have resigned if YSR schemes were implemented

YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Sunday stated that the there would not have been any need for the by-elections to the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies had the state government implemented the welfare schemes launched by his father and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in letter and spirit.

Addressing an election rally in Chakrayapeta mandal in Pulivendula constituency, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy stated that, “had the government implemented Dr YSR’s schemes in letter and spirit, I would not have resigned from the Lok Sabha and there would have been no by-elections.”

“The fact remains that the state government has ‘totally’ failed in executing the welfare schemes launched by Dr YSR. They (the government) claim that the welfare schemes impose a heavy burden on the State Exchequer. How is this possible when these schemes were implemented by Dr YSR himself and the state Exchequer was able to sustain them during his regime?” he questioned.

He continued, “the state government has time and again tried to withdraw the schemes citing financial constraints. The truth is that I had to resign from my MP seat in protest against the government’s unwillingness to implement Dr YSR’s schemes.”

Mr Jaganmohan Reddy further said that if the state government had properly implemented all YSR schemes without considering financial implications, he would not have resigned from the Lok Sabha.

Apart from this, the government has totally failed in fulfilling the promises made in election manifesto, he alleged.

The Kadapa leader added that the by-elections was a fight for his loyalty towards the public and its welfare by implementing the promises made by his father and the violations of these promises by the government.

“If I had remained silent over the Congress’ inaction and remained ‘loyal’ to the party, I would have been made a Union Minister long ago,” Mr Jaganmohan Reddy stated.
