Prajapatham to carry forward Racha Banda agenda

The Cabinet which met at the Secretariat on Saturday, announced an agenda for discussion under the Prajapatham programme which was designed to check whether the decisions taken earlier during the flagship scheme Racha Banda by the government were being implemented.

The Cabinet also decided to stress on the officers concerned to plug the loopholes for effective implementation of the schemes if they were not done so, under the Prajapatham.

The Prajapatham was originally scheduled to begin in the first week of April and extend till the end of May but due to the by-elections schedule in Kadapa district it was delayed, announced Minister for Finance Anam Ramnarayan Reddy after the conclusion of the Cabinet meeting.

Mr Ramnarayan Reddy revealed that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy insisted on review and steps to be taken up on sanitation work in schools, effective drinking water supply, pensions and Pavala Vaddi among others.

Accordingly, sanitation work would begin in 40,000 schools during the summer holidays. During the Racha Banda programme, 12 lakh applications under NREGS were received and 93 lakh petitions were verified with as many as 3.48 lakh applicants were found eligible. Still 2.70 lakh applications were due to be verified, revealed the Minister.

Similarly, 5.70 lakh applications came for ration cards which were to be processed by March 25, and then completed after scrutiny. Issue of Aadhar cards which is linked up with the Rajiv Arogyasri also will be taken up within six months, Mr Ramnarayan Reddy disclosed.

The mother and child welfare attached to 108 and 104 of Arogyasri will also be reviewed, he further added.

As per the report from AP Backward Classes Commission, five castes have been included in the BC list, the Minister stated.

Accordingly, Budubunzala caste was included in Group ‘B’ at serial number 27, Kurmi – under Group ‘B’ at serial number 47, Asadhula – under Group ‘A’ at serial number 53, Gudia – under Group ‘D’ at serial number 28 and Keuta – under Group ‘A’ at serial number 54, he stated.

The Minister further claimed that the prestigious Racha Banda programme registered 96 per cent success rate.
