YSR Cong complains against DL before EC

The YSR Congress Party leaders on Tuesday heaped up a bundle of allegations against health minister DL Ravindra Reddy who is contesting against YS Jaganmohan Reddy for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat.

They brought to the notice of the Election Commission that the candidate for the LS seat Dr DL Ravindra Reddy had been indulging in character assassination of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and sought action against him.

A delegation of YSR Congress Pary leaders met Additional Secretary T Dakshina Murthy at the Secretariat on Tuesday and complained against the Health Minister for violating the Election Code on various counts.

They said that the Minister convened a press meeting today which is against the Code of Election. He also issued statements against Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to defame him and demanded that he be dismissed from the Council of Ministers.

Vice-President of YSR Congress Party K Shivakumar who later addressed a media meeting said that MK Stalin, the Deputy Chief Mnister of Tamil Nadu who spoke against Aiadmk Chief Jayalalithaa had later tendered his apology to the former. On the same lines, Dr Ravindra Reddy should also apologise to Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, he demanded.

The Congress party had sponsored one Basha, a person with a criminal background to file papers as an independent against Mr Jaganmohan Reddy which was opposed by the YSR Congress party leaders. There were many criminal cases against Basha, they alleged and asked the EC to examine the issue.

Besides, money was flowing against the Election Code which would influence the voters, they pointed out and urged the EC to take care of such violations.

The YSR Congress Party leaders said that they caught a person distributing Rs 27 lakh and sough action against him.

The Health Minister chose to malign the image of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy by spreading canards and asked the EC to check such activities which were against the guidelines of the code, they said.
