Hearing on Jagan's assets adjourned to April 13

A division bench comprising Justice V Eswaraiah and Justice V Suri Appa Rao of High Court on Friday adjourned hearing on the maintainability of a writ seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into alleged amassing of assets by former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to April 13.

Appearing on behalf of Jagathi Publications, advocate Altaf Ahmad had contended that the petition filed by Handlooms and Textiles Minister P Shankara Rao was not maintainable as he had filed the writ before the court with political intentions.

Referring to the allegations raised against Jagathi Publications by Dr Shankar Rao, Mr Altaf Ahmad said that the petitioner had lodged the case to tarnish Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s image politically and was wasting the precious time of the Court.

Mr Altaf Ahmad also repeated his demand that the petitioner, Dr Shankar Rao, explain what kind of power former chief minister YSR used to help his son to amass huge assets.

The senior counsel argued that the former chief minister could not have taken unilateral decisions but his entire Cabinet of Ministers were in agreement to any decision taken during his rule.

He argued the investigation cannot be ordered in any given case based on mere hypothesis that the decisions were unilateral.

After hearing the arguments of case, the Division Bench adjourned further hearing to April 13.
